DICKERSON-GREEN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
Empowering leaders for transformational ministry
centered in compassion, justice and love.
Welcome to Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary at Allen University!
Allen University was established with faith and courage in 1870 in Cokesbury, South Carolina. This esteemed institution found its new home in Columbia just a decade later. On a memorable Christmas Eve in 1880, the State of South Carolina graciously bestowed upon us a charter, empowering the university and its dedicated trustees to provide enriching educational programs. An integral part of our proud legacy is the Dickerson Seminary, established in the very same year we moved to Columbia. To respond to evolving times and expanding academic horizons, we transformed into the Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary in 2018, to offer graduate-level programs. At DGTS we are supporting the growth and evolution of contemplative, reflective pastors and leaders. Join us in our journey of knowledge, growth, and tradition!

Our Mission
The Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary’s mission is to provide a high-quality graduate theological education. The program will equip graduates to engage in Christian congregational life and other settings in which the expectation is to think theologically and minister to the spiritual, social, and physical development of all people within a Christian spiritual context. The aim of the program is to ecumenically prepare those who qualify and desire to extend the transformational love of Jesus Christ via the empowerment of education and Christian spiritual formation.
